On page 338 in Suetin's biography of Crowley " Do What Thou Wilt ", in 1930 Aleister had the following conversation:
" ' I haven't seen Monty Summers for years. ' answered Crowley, knocking the end of his cigar with the air of an executioner. ' He takes care of that. He knows what would happen. '
' What would happen? '
' I should change him into a toad. ' "
But Crowley reports in his diary that in 1929 he had dinner with Montague Summers and had " the most amusing evening in decades ". Is the Great Beast fibbing about Summers ?
Enter part 2 of our Toad mystery. Lejeune in the Introduction to Dennis Wheatley's " To The Devil, a Daughter " describes a weekend stay by the Wheatleys at Summers' country house. On page 9, it is stated that in Summers' garden Joan Wheatly came across the biggest toad she had ever seen, a creature that Summers told another visitor was the reincarnation of an old friend whom he was feeding and protecting. Later in the visit, seemingly out of character, Summers acted like a possessed madman, forcing the Wheatleys to leave.
Did Crowley change Summers into a large toad, replacing him with a demon who looked like old Monty who could only keep this material form by keeping the transformed Toad ( really Monty ) alive ? This would explain Summers sudden and unexpected death a decade later - the Toad CROAKED ( LOL ! ) !!!

Yesterday marked the Winter solstice, the mid-season solar point, and we are in Yuletide proper with all its magic. While it would be fantastic if darkness continued to increase, we must now watch the slow return of wretched light. We hope you performed the appropriate Cthulhu rituals between Halloween and Yule. May your Yule tree be strewn with the bloody skulls and ripped entrails of your enemies ! And remember - this is a " Blue Moon " month as well with the 31st marking that event. While rereading Dickens' " Christmas Carol " as part of the yuletide warm-up, I realized that the metaphor for compassion has changed since the 19th century. Now we locate " compassion " in the heart. In Dickens' time, it was located in the bowels. The key joke for Dickens' in the " Marley " haunting is Scrooge musing to himself " He always heard Marley had no bowels, but now he could see that was true. " - " no bowels " meaning having no compassion. Given the connection between the 19th century obsession with constipation, the Protestant " movement ", feces as money in the unconscious as discovered by Freud, and the whole Scrooge theme of miserliness, a Satanic psychoanalysist has a field day!

The History Channel unexpectedly ran a high quality investigation program during the Halloween season on the infamous French " Beast Of Gevaudan " case. An area of rural France was terrorized by the critter, which the locals ( with the encouragement of the local Catholic authorities seeking to rewin the region from Prots and other heretics ) believed was a werewolf. Between 1764 and 1767, over 100 women and children were slaughtered. Like Jewish Ritual Murder data, there were real homicides with real bodies. The History Channel was fortunate to pair a hard-boiled Homicide detective with a cryptozoologist. In the beginning, the cop thought the crypto was a nut while the crypto thought the cop was too hidebound. In the end, I think they came very close to solving the crime. The Catholic Church, to terror convert the area and embarrass the Enlightment policies of the French monarchy, hired the local misfit hunter to train a large hyena ( even Montague Summers got the animal type correct in his " The Werewolf In Lore and Legend " pg. 235. ) borrowed from the Bishop's aristocratic relatives zoological gardens, to attack the rubes. The bodies displayed bone-crushing that only the hyena's powerful jaws could produce. And the eye-witness accounts point to both a hyena ( which the locals never saw before ) and a man dressed as a wolf ( the trainer-handler ). Since the beastly attacks included sexual assault, and were concentrated ONLY in one Church jurisdiction ( how could a Beast know the boundaries, let alone rape women and young girls ? ), the hypothesis of a man and his pet Beastie performing the attacks is highly likely. In the end, the " hero " who killed the Beastie with a single silver bullet is unmasked, through modern ballistics, as the culprit. In just goes to show that historical heroes are generally villians whose " good-guy " badge conceals real horrors !!

Using the Satanic third-side method ( the " carnal " knowledge transformation of old Hegel's dialectics ), we expect that commonly-held herd beliefs are, in fact, false. Case in point: the old cliche that if everyone would just be ( white-light ) religious, then all our personal and social ills would vanish.
Empirically, religion makes people " worse ", not better. In his latest book " We Are Doomed " author John Derbyshire presents the following data (pg.160 ). Oregon is the least religious state in the USA with 18% unbelievers while Mississippi is the most religious state with only 4% non-believers ( and that is with a margin of error of + or - 3% ! ). Oregon has a Murder rate of 1.9 per 100,000, a births out of wedlock rate of of 28.9 per 100,000, and an AIDS rate of 7.6 per 100,000. Mississippi has a Murder rate 0f 7.1 per 100,000, a births out of wedlock rate of 45.3 per 100,00, and an AIDS rate of 10.9 per 100,000. Nations show the same trends with the most religious nations (Nigeria and Pakistan )excelling in these social distress categories while the least religious nations ( Japan and Norway ) are the lowest in these same categories. Derbyshire cites sociological demographer Gregory Paul: " In general, high rates of belief in, and worship of, a creator correlate with high rates of homicide, juvenile and early adult mortality, sexually transmitted disease infection rates, teen pregnancy and abortions, in prosperous democracies. ". So, as we " evil folk " always suspected, whitelight religion makes people worse - not better !

The title of James Ellroy's latest novel, from a poem by A.E. Housman, captures the tracing of multiple conspiracies through the dark world where film-noir commies emerge with flawed victory over J. Edgar Hoover, " Drac " ( Howard Hughes ), the heads of the mafia, and Tricky Dick Nixon. Ellroy takes painful events from his own life and transforms these events into an artistic " explanation " for the JFK/RFK/MLK murders as well as why Watergate happened - all with the noir world of LA lurking as the final backdrop. Ellroy's history of the US from the late 1940's beginning with the "Black Dahlia" may be ending with this novel as the old noir world, with its jargon and characters most definitely vanished by the resignation of Tricky Dick followed by the Feds' assault on organized crime in the following decade. I enjoy the Satanic quality of Ellroy's worldview and his prose style which derives in no small measure from that neglected masterpiece of American writing " The Badge " by Jack Webb ( yep, the Dragnet guy was a better writer than 99% of so-called " serious " - yuppie - writers in the last half-century ). His history of the US ranks with Gore Vidal's US history via novels in telling the essential historical truths by way of artistic " lies " ( fiction ) !

Conservative commentators are dead wrong when they label political correctness " Stalinist ". The real father of P.C. was a muddled Russian linguist named Marr who sought to change the function of words by legal means. In " Marxism And The Problem Of Linguistics " ( 1952 ) Stalin strongly opposed this position showing that language was not part of either the social base or its superstructure and was more like the instruments of production ( machines/technology ) (pg.5) equally usable by either a capitalist or socialist society. Further Stalin demonstrated that grammar and the stock of words could not be destroyed or replaced to enhance the revolutionary process ( pg.8 ). Given these arguments, he would have regarded the PC movements as total idealist nonsense - and unscientific nonsense at that. Stalin may be blamed for many crimes. But conservatives show their boneheaded stupidity when they try to pin political correctness on Cotton-Eyed Joe (LOL!). And film-noir commies all want to liquidate the P.C. idiots as well !!
